"Bubba Ho-tep, with its cinematic flash and terrifically offbeat humor, is a fantastic story of redemption, courage and friendship."
~ Cine Las Vegas Film Festival

Screening Tuesday, October 31, 7:30 pm
    The Cincinnati Art Museum

So what can we say about a story set in an east Texas rest home-from-hell that features an aging Elvis, a dignified black man convinced he is JFK, and an Egyptian mummy in cowboy boots and a black hat using the rest home as a feeding ground?

How about this:  Bubba Ho-Tep is one of the most original, and surprisingly touching, films to come along in years. It epitomizes what we expect in highly creative, independent filmmaking.

Is this delightfully independent film a ...
    Comedy?  Horror Flick?  Drama?

    Yes, yes, and yes!

BUBBA HO-TEP has kept audiences in stitches and won Best Screenplay and Best Actor at the Comedy Arts Film Festival, so it is definitely comedic. ... It has a mummy, flying scarab beetles and bedpans, so it could be a horror film/horror-spoof ... And, the film's well-developed back story offers a bittersweet meditation on friendship, life and death, thereby adding genuine drama to director Don Coscarelli's highly original mix.

If you are looking for pure entertainment, you've got it. If you can appreciate an artfully-told tale of regret and redemption, you've got that as well. The marauding mummy and flying scarab beetles are over-the-top, perfect-for-Halloween-scary, but not gory. This film is rated "R" for brief language and brief sexual situations, but don't get your hopes up - it's less licentious than most of the programming on Fox or WB.

Read more, see footage from the film.

After the film we will adjourn to THE WINE CELLAR, nearby at the corner of Pavilion and St. Gregory in Mt. Adams. Join us for music and the beverage of your choice; with hors d'oeuvres courtesy of Wine Cellar proprietor Mike Ferguson. Your Bubba Ho-Tep ticket stub grants admission.

Fans of director Don Coscarelli (Phantasm!, Beastmaster) and Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness) have made BUBBA HO-TEP into a cult classic. And if you admired Ossie Davis (No Way Out, The Cardinal, The Hill, Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing, Jungle Fever), here is a rare opportunity to see this marvelous character actor in his last major movie.

Attention Elvis fans: Bruce Campbell's performance is not mere caricature or impersonation, but transformation. Bruce doesn't play Elvis in this movie ... he IS  Elvis!!

If you are one of the roughly 900 who attended our original sellout screenings at the now defunct Mt. Lookout Cinema, you'll want to see it again on the big screen with 5.1 surround sound. And, if you have not yet seen BUBBA HO-TEP in a movie theatre, this is your chance.

Feeling young at heart, with the moxie to show up in creative costume?
We'll have Bubba Ho-Tep memorabilia as prizes for best Bubba, JFK & Ho-Tep.
